Now, about DAP...

Is The DAP A Chauvinist Party?

By Syed Akbar Ali

In the comments to my previous post "Pakatan Gangster?" one commentor said the following:

"DAP is not just an anti Malay racist party; but its accusations of MACC's complication in the death of the decease smacks bigotry of highest order. I cannot understand why scoundrels of this low can still have support in our country. Is this the alternative that we want? A."

Another commentor (Purple Haze) replied to this:

"I am not sure why you maintain the view that DAP is anti Malay. Perhaps it is the controlled media that paints it as such.

Remember that the current Chief Minister ofPenang (from DAP) went to jail for standing up for the honour of a Malay girl when no one else would. That certainly would not be the actions of an anti-Malay faction. And the media kept very quiet on that, despite knowing who the real criminal was."

Is the DAP a chauvinist party? Is the DAP anti Malay or anti Islam? Or have they now (in light of Pakatan/Anwar etc) become closet racists?

Lets look at the record. Lim Guan Eng made a public display of standing up for a young Malay girl because the fellow involved was Rahim Tamby Chik, Guan Eng's nemesis in Melaka at that time. Would Lim Guan Eng have made the same stand if it was not Rahim Tamby Chik? What if it was Chua Soi Lek?

But most strangely, years after the event, after everything had simmered down (hence minimising the need for inducements), the Malay girl in question made a public appearance on TV, wearing a tudung, married with the husband in tow, and said she had nothing to do with the events in history, that her name had been sullied and would everyone just please leave her alone. I can personally vouch for Rahim Tamby Chik's preference for mee rebus (saw him at dinner in Melaka in the mid 90s) but perhaps Lim Guan Eng did get the wrong girl. Perhaps among the reasons he went to jail.

By the way none of his lawyers (or even DAP) spoke of conspiracy, crooked judges etc after the verdict. Does anyone know the name of the judge who jailed Guan Eng? Crooked judge? How come DAP never said so?

Fast forward to the future. Now since he is Chief Minister, has Guan Eng made any attempt to contact the Malay girl for whom he went to jail? Surely the brave warrior and handsome hero should visit the damsel in distress whom he saved from a horrible fate worse than death? Can anyone ask Lim Guan Eng? Maybe that will give a clue if DAP is anti Malay, anti Muslim or not?

Then we come to Theresa Kok. Theresa made a great fuss over a video showing a Chinese girl being asked to do naked squats in a Police station. Theresa jumped to the conclusion that it was a Chinese girl from China (not a Malaysian citizen but a foreign national) was being tortured by Police. But because the girl was thought to be Chinese, Theresa made a fuss about it (perhaps a precursor to the Malays torturing Chinese thingy which is so fashionable nowadays).

Then it came to pass that the girl was not Chinese but actually a Malay girl, also wearing a tudung, who was a suspected drug addict. Not surprisingly that also marked the end of Theresa Kok's involvement in the matter. She dropped the case like a hot potato. Someone should ask Theresa - has she ever made ANY ATTEMPT AT ALL - to find out anything about the Malay girl since her identity became known? This will also throw more light whether the DAP is anti Malay or not.

Then we come to Lim Kit Siang. Just recently I found out that when the Taliban lunatics blew up the Buddha statues at Bamiyan in Afghanistan, Lim Kit Siang made Press statements condemning the Taliban for their action. That was a correct thing to do. How many statements did Lim Kit Siang make? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? Can anyone guess? It is said that Lim Kit Siang made 11 (ELEVEN) Press statements condemning the Taliban for blowing up the Buddha statues in Bamiyan. We congratulate Mr Lim for his concern. Well done.

Then later the Hindu fanatics attacked and destroyed the Babri Mosque in India. Not only was the mosque detroyed but 2000 Muslims were also massacred by Hindu fanatics in the riots at that time. How many Press statements did Lim Kit Siang make condemning the destruction of the Babri Mosque and the massacre of the 2,000 people? 11? 10? 9? 5? 4? 1? Can anyone guess? The answer is none. Lim Kit Siang did not even make one Press statement to condemn the destruction of the Babri Mosque by Hindu fanatics in India.

In Bamiyan the Buddha statues were blown up but no one died. 11 Press statements were made by Kit Siang. In the destruction of the Babri Mosque, 2000 people were also massacred but no Press statement from Lim Kit Siang.

So this may throw some light if the DAP is anti Malay, anti Islam, chauvinist etc.
