Looming...

The unseen crisis is the greatest crisis

Yes, a crisis means a turning point. Therefore, when there is no crisis, we need to create one; and when we are not able to create a crisis, we need to imagine one.

Keep the employees live in fear of crisis has always been one of the methods to ensure an institution's or even an organization's sustainable operation and survival.

When it comes to the political arena, keep creating an imaginary enemy, a crisis or instilling a sense of crisis that substantially does not exist, so that the people will always live in fear is the one and only way to maintain power or even to forever rule.

Many politicians keep mentioning the word crisis after the 8 March general elections.

Let's look at BN.

Undeniably, in order to resolve the crisis (it is another matter whether it is effective), UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is as well the country's Prime Minister, has made a lot of efforts and reform.

Compared to UMNO, which is relatively stable, MCA is facing a greater crisis and challenge.

After the change of MCA leadership, the party's internal struggles are gradually intensifying. MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat described his situation as "being ambushed from all directions". Really, we can see the blazing flames of war spreading from the party to another BN member party. And from the member party, it spread to the business community and caused a "black terror". It is full of suspicions and indeed, it has been bogged down in crisis.

As for MIC, it suffered a great defeat during the last general elections but its President Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu still took it easy. He refused to step down and disclosed that he will stay on as MIC President till 2015. Is he planning to conduct a few surgeries for the dying MIC and brings it back to life in the next six year?

Let's talk about Pakatan Rakyat.

Pakatan rose with the people's support during the 8 March general elections but it soon realised the crisis and challenges awaiting behind the victory.

Regime change in Perak caused by recantation and party-hopping, as well as the crisis-ridden Kedah have been repeatedly hitting PAS, PKR and DAP. Also, the problems of Pakatan representatives, including their quality, integrity and ethics, have recently surfaced.

It is undeniable that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, PKR General Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat enjoy supreme prestige and status in their respective party. However, a party cannot rely only on one person.

DAP, PKR and PAS should get a clear understanding of a fact: without high quality grass-root leaders and members, there will be no successor in the party. And without high integrity and ideals successors, there will be no future for the party.

Pakatan should not keep claiming that the Kedah and Selangor regimes are stable or vow to seize the central government in the next general elections without noticing that it is facing problems and a crisis that is more severe than what BN is facing now.

You can solve the crisis only when you know it. And the unseen crisis is the greatest crisis! (By LIM MUN FAH/Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/Sin Chew Daily)
